Siena
Siena is a walled city in Tuscany, known for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and a colourful horse race, Il Palio, conducted twice each year in the summer. Siena's centro storico, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is extremely picturesque, and from high towers, you can see the beautiful countryside that still largely surrounds the city. With a few notable exceptions, the Sienese countryside looks almost the same as it did in Medieval paintings.
